Making "Pop-Up"
It turned out that my friend Brian was an advisor to LovePop, a local startup company which was the manufacturer of a new generation of pop-up cards. They use precision laser cutters and modern CAD tools to design their cards, but even with all that technical know-how it still turned out that LovePop needed some software consulting. So Brian introduced me to their founder, Wombi, and after our consultation I showed him my portfolio and he agreed to have LovePop work on a New Year's design with me.
In our first session, I outlined my ideas about interlocking letters and he sketched some concepts.
But both of these concepts proved to be unworkable. The first one I rejected because it ended up being kind of bland, while LovePop found it hard to execute on the second one.
