Making "Siri"

Second, while I originally thought it would be a piece of cake to construct a back-and-forth Siri-style dialogue, it turns out that the iPhone 4S has this subtle background texture gradient on that screen that actively resists cut-n-paste. By that, I mean that if you take a bunch of screen snapshots of Siri dialogue and attempt to assemble them into a coherent-looking screen, it looks like a paste job.

If you take a look at that Siri screen, you can see that if you just cut out the "Search the web" bubble you end up with a discontinuity in the background that ends up being obvious (trust me). The background is much lighter at the top than at the bottom, plus the linen texture is not regular at all, so even the simplest patch is completely visible.
